Finding the Roses that Grow Out of Chaos

I write this blog post for personal growth not for much (if any) entertainment for the reader. Adon is currently in the process of potty training. (And has been, according to journals and blogs, for the past year.) I was sitting in the boys' room reading to Collin when Adon came running out of the bath room after using the potty without his underpants on. I sent him back to retrieve them and to put them back on. He ran back into the bathroom and all of a sudden I heard a gushing of water and a three year old exclaim "Uh Oh" Some how he had plugged the toilet and it was now flooding the bathroom. I shooed the two "helpers" out of the bathroom and started throwing towels on the floor. Collin cried outside the door because he wanted to be in on the action (or just in arms length of me). I came out of the bathroom for more towels to find that Collin had expressed his disappointment of me abandoning his precious reading time by spilling laundry detergent on the floor. I put Collin on the time out stool in hopes that he would stay out of the way. I swept up the spilled laundry detergent and grabbed some newly dried towels from the dryer to finish cleaning up the flood. I started bringing out dripping towels to the washer when I realized that Adon had now dumped laundry detergent on the floor. I moved Collin from the time out stool to the bedroom and Adon onto the time out stool (Adon could open the door and come out of the bedroom where Collin still can't open doors) So, I had my two little helpers out of the way for a minute while I swept up the laundry detergent for the second time and got the towels into the washing machine. I cloroxed the floor and let the kids loose. So now here is where the growth comes in.

What good came out of this moment of disaster?

The list is as follows: Neither child dumped the entire contents of the laundry detergent so we still have some left. Neither child makes it a continuous habit to dump laundry detergent. I used the spilled laundry detergent to wash the towels. When the flooding happened I had a whole dryer full of clean towels how a few hours ago every towel in the house was in the washing machine all ready wet. I did not let my wrath flow onto my children for being children. My bathroom rugs can survive the gentle cycle of my washing machine so I don't have to hand wash them. My bathroom floor is the cleanest it has been in weeks. Even though I am still unsure what Adon put into the toilet to plug it up, I am glad that the toilet is not permanently plugged nor broken in any way. Adon did not use his discarded underpants to plug up the toilet. Thank goodness Super Grover is around to save the day. I'm sure there is more but right now I have another disaster to go clean up. Mommies work from son up 'till son down.

5 Years And The Best Is Yet To Come

I'm not great and saying things (or writing) the things I feel. This Friday was Aaron and my 5th anniversary. Aaron took the day off and we had a fun filled weekend. I love talking with Aaron about our past and how our paths (though not very clear) finally merged and now we are together. I love talking about the times that made us laugh, cry, and struggle to get to be the people we are today enjoying the kind of relationship that we have. Aaron is my best friend. I am so blessed to be married to him for eternity. We work hard every day for our marriage and I think if I have learned anything that would be it. Work hard every day and fight for what you want.
Aaron, thank you for making me laugh and helping me learn hard lessons that I needed to learn. Thank you for learning about how I work and being very patient with me. Thank you for helping me see reason when it was elusive to me. Thank you for letting me cry when I needed to. Thank you for the hard times that we got through TOGETHER. Thank you for giving me courage to bring two beautiful boys into this world and the patience to be their mother. I love you with all my heart and though a blog is not the best place to say such things maybe it will immortalize it for a minute. I want to get old with you. I want to continue on our journey together. I am excited for the adventures together. I can't wait to tell you I love you every day. Okay that is the extent of my ability to try to say what I want to say. Happy Anniversary to my Eternal Main Squeeze! My sweetheart! My Aaron!
With all my heart,
Carly

Bowling for Our Anniversary

These are the smallest size of bowling shoes that the alley had and they sure are cute on my little Collin even though they are a bit big.
Uncle Ryan and Auntie Heather came with us to go bowling on Friday. They were great sports and very patient with the boys. Thanks for coming with us guys. It was so much fun!

Collin got the highest score for the first game with this contraption that helps little guys bowl with balls more than half their weight. :P

This was my one and only strike of the day. Check out that form !

Ryan took this picture of us for the blog and who ever views it. Happy Anniversary to Aaron and Me!

A Picnic In Amalga

We have been a little jealous of our cousins in warmer areas that are having picnics in February so here is our little verson of a picnic. (Okay its just cookies) Its warmer and dryer on the cement so we sat on the cement for a little picnic.

The Wheels On the Bus....

I knew this great upcoming even was going to happen so I kick myself for not having a camera. Because it was totally awesome. The boys and I go to Story Time Wednesday mornings. They usually have a theme and today was transportation. But it was really about big yellow busses. One of the ladies in our town drives school bus, so our teacher asked her to stop by so the kids could ride it. I was watching Riggs so I had three little boys. The bus pulled up in front of the door and the kids got all excited, Adon especially. The bus driver explained the one rule; to sit in our seats and face forward all the time. 15 kids and 6 adults climbed onto the bus and chose our seats. All school buses have that smell and for some reason I remember them being bigger. The boys (all the kids actually) were very good at keeping to the rule. Collin and Riggs sat in a seat and Adon and I sat across the isle from them. We pulled out of the parking lot and drove around the church wich is on the other side of the street. Then we crossed the street again and drove by the park, around Daddy's work and back to the high way. Then we turned back on to the Amalga road and back to Story Time. The kids loved it. They were all wide eyed the whole time. Adon loves buses. Every time one passes us he says, "Mom did you see that bus, or I see that bus" The bus driver even pulled her air horn for the kids (apparently she gets a kick out of the horn too) We then piled out of the bus and continued Story Time. It was a great experience for the kids, even though they won't remember it. Thank you to Sister R. (story time teacher) and Sister M. (the bus driver) for putting together another awesome Story Time Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The boys got haircuts and new red polkadotted ties for Valentines Day. I made these little faux ties. They turned out cute. My sweet Collin in the shirt Grandma E. gave Adon for his birthday. Yes they grow so fast.
Adon with his hair cut and new tie. I cropped his feet out of the picture because these pants were given him for his birthday not very long ago and they are all ready becoming "high waters". i had to go find him another white shirt because he grew out of the one Nana gave him for his birthday. My little "all grown up" handsome boy!

Happy Valentine's Day from the Wilson Family. The great thing about this picture is that we are all smiling. EVEN COLLIN!!!! YEA! Have a great day and we send our love to every one!

Parker Muir's Blessing Day

Such a sweet looking family! Emily, baby Parker, Jacob, and Marc.
We were able to go to Parker's baby blessing. Emily and Marc live in Providence now. It was so good to see them and their families. Beverly says hello to Mom and that she misses her. Daniel and his little family are off to Georgia for chiropractic school in April after he graduates from BYU. It was so good to see Marc's parents. Never miss out on these kinds of things. I hope to do more with Emily and her awesome family while I can.

L 2 R: Adon, Collin, Bridget, Benson, Oliver. Cousins are so fun. I have video that wont upload of them doing Ring Around The Rosies. So cute. This is the best picture. Most of the kids were pretty tired. Collin was so cute and this is not his best picture. Its better than the mug shots I got of them. At least Adon is winking in this one.
Adon discovered David playing the DS and he didn't worry about bubbles or who David is he just snuggled right up. Good thing David is such a great guy to let the little ones hang on him.

This is my cute cousin Clarissa. Any one know any cute guys we can hook her up with? LOL just kidding I am not good at playing Match Maker. All though, Conner is pretty good.

For most of the afternoon I was wondering where our little Malachi was. He is usually the life of the party. I guess when you are six there are more interesting things to do. Malachi with his big brother David. This was really cute mostly because the house was packed with people and they were just lying on the floor coloring. LOL

Happy 80th Birthday Grandma Egbert

On Saturday we all met (unannounced) at Grandma and Grandpa Egbert's house in Preston to celebrate Grandma's 80th birthday. Here is Aaron sharing his banana split with Collin and Adon. The house was pretty packed with people. Thanks to Aunt Debbie for getting us all together.
Grandma with her cake, corshage, and her health. :P

Grandma cutting her cake. David and Malachi wanted a corner piece so they were first in line.

These are the flowers that the Wilson family gave Grandma. We love her so much and appreciate her in our lives.

Collin's Light Show

Collin likes to stand on the drum and play with the lights. (This is his modeling face that he has been working on.)
on....off...on...off...on...off

Then he shakes his little finger at me saying "don't you dare walk away because I'm balancing on this thing whil giving you a light show!"

Daddy and Collin's Chocolate Pie

Aaron and Collin made a chocolate pudding pie. Collin helped clean up.
We have all ready established how much Collin loves chocolate.

I can't stop taking picutres of Collin eating. It never ceases to amaze me how he can get any in his tummy while he is spreading it from ear to ear. Notice how clean the fork is. LOL

Playing With Riggs

Adon wanting a little more attention and his picture taken~!
This is Riggs. He came over to play for a couple of hours. He and the boys get along very well. He is a very cute boy. Aaron brought this drum home from work for the storage but it is usually used for play.

Riggs loved his picture taken. They had a lot of fun.

Peek-a-boo! I see you!

Cow Boy Up

While Aaron and I were rearranging our bedroom, the boys got out Dad's totally awesome/way cool hats. They even wanted to take them to the store. Here is Collin with his hat. In the car it kept covering his eyes.
"Howdy" Adon likes Mommy's hat but insists on wearing it backwards. LOL

He did this all by himself. Talk about cowboying up. He is vaccuming and brushing his teeth just like his dad.

Sleepy Boy

For a week the boys were sick. Adon would lay on a pillow while his ear drops would soak a few minutes. This particular time, he fell asleep while soaking. It was so cute and I was so thankful because he had had a rough night the night before. He took quite a long nap there on the couch.

The green ring is a treasure he was given at the doctor's office.

Learning about the Planets

In Adon's stocking he received this little kit of glow in the dark planets. Mom helped him make a mobile to hang from his celing out of straws and fishing line. Adon has a big book about lots of things and in it was a chapter about the planets.
This is what it looks like now. They really glow great!

Adon wanted to take a picture too so I thought I would post it as well. What a cleaver guy. He is really into rockets and planets now.

I Love Oranges

Collin LOVES oranges. If I let him he will eat the whole thing. Here is a plate with a whole orange sliced just the way he likes it!
Going....

....going.....(picture taken by Adon)...

Gone! No sweat! And nothing left but the rind!

The Button Master

Adon has learned to master those pesky buttons.
These cute pajamas have big red ones that are easy to learn on.

"Did I get them all?"

"I did it!"

I Love Chocolate

It doesn't take much of anything to get from one ear to the other when it comes to Collin and eating.
He thinks chocolate is pretty awesome!

Mom agrees!

I only gave him one cookie and as you can see most of it is still on the table.

Here is what happens when a Collin meets a chocolate sandwich. KABOOM! No more Chinese Laundry!
