Special Christmas Chocolate

I told Adon that we were going to made fudge after dinner. He asked "mommy, what is fudge" My answer "Special Christmas chocolate". That made him excited. After washing hands I gave each boy a bar of chocolate to break up with a promise that they can have a piece when they were done. They did a good job.
Then we patiently measured out chocolate chips with a promise of a few for themselves.

Then we measured out enough marshmallows and added them to our mixture.

Then Mommy added the hot syrup mixture and the recipe says to stir until your arms get tired.

So we did.

My boys will agree with Auntie Kadie that the best part is licking the bowl when its done. We love making "special Christmas chocolate."

What Makes You Happy?

Today I went Visiting Teaching and as with other activities I took my boys with me. We have new sisters that we visit. We went to one who has three children as well as, at the time of our visit, was watching her sister's kids as well. Minus Collin taking a tumble down their stairs, the boys had a lot of fun. So much that Adon was in tears when we had to leave. He didn't want to go home. He wanted to stay and play with the kids. He threw a fit the whole way home, full blown water show. We got to the hill just before our house and I said, "Adon we are going home. You can be upset if you want or we can find something to do at home that can help you be happy." Adon "Okay" Me "What can we do that will make you happy?" (This next part is word for word out of my 4-year-old's mouth) Adon, "Be thankful and think of Jesus" Me, "Really? That makes you happy?" Adon, "Yes, be thankful and think of Jesus. But Mom I don't want to be happy" Needless to say I was in tears when I drove into my driveway. Even though he didn't want to be happy right now he recognized what does make him happy. Not many adults know that you can find happiness in Christ and having an attitude of gratitude. Merry Christmas Every One.

Dear Santa

With a little help from Dad, Adon wrote a letter to Santa. I wanted to share it with you before I sent it.
Dear Santa,
I want some Buzz Lightyear wings. I will use them to fly around + save the galaxy.
I would liek to have a Woody action figure. Along with Woody's horse.
You could complete the set with Pig + Rex + Bear.
I would liek a Lighting McQueen Car too + his house.
I have been a really good boy this year.
Love,
Adon LaVell Wilson
Pretty cute. As you can see it was written back in November. Its been in the church bag this whole time and he likes to get it out during church and have us read it to him over and over. I will let you know if Santa writes back.

60th Wedding Aniversary

On December 12, 2010 Grandpa and Grandma celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. We got together at their home and had cake and ice cream while we visited and looked at family pictures.
A few small gifts were exchanged. Grandpa got Grandma a new digital camera and we stuck around to help her learn how to use it. I think she will really enjoy it. Adon was excited to see Great-grandma's gift too. Congratulations not many people have 60 years on their resume.

Sleeping Under the Christmas Tree

One tradition we have in our family is to have a family Christmas party on the eve of Christmas eve and then sleep under the tree. Well this is sort of the same thing. Mom was watching the boys while I went to mutual and this is how I found them. Mom wasn't really asleep but I told her not to move and I had to take a picture. Collin and Adon are zonked. So cute.

Decorating Our Chirstmas Tree

According to Adon, decorating a tree is "a lot of work". Once we got it centered and some water in the stand, then we put lights on the tree.
Then we all helped put decorations on it. Adon and Collin like this the best.

Aaron putting on decorations a little higher than Adon and Collin.

All done with a few other decorations around the house. Merry Christmas.

Yep, decorating a Christmas tree is "a lot of work" Time to cuddle and relax.

Tree Huntin'

Collin and Adon being pulled by Uncle Ryan on a sled to go huntin' for a Christmas Tree. Ryan and Heather came with the Wilsons to go looking for a tree.
Aaron found the only tree on the whole mountain slope that would fit in our house and cut it down. Its a fat little thing. We love it.

Tatted Snowflakes

As part of a Christmas presant, I tatted five snow flake tree ornaments.
I have been taught to tat by my mother-in-law who learned it from her grandmother. I started tatting at the begining of this year.

Great-grandma Batty's Angel

Grandma and Grandpa Wilson have a tree topper angel that was tatted by Great Grandma Batty. I have had it in my possession for the past year to recreate it for a gift for Moriann and Justin for Christmas. Here I am putting the angel together. There four pieces that were tatted and then I had to make the body and the head.
Here she is all done and posing on a bowl. Front...

...and back. I started her in March. I've gotten better at tatting through out the year.

Playing In The Snow

Daddy scraped the snow off the trampoline and Collin couldn't resist. Looks like fun.
Snow Ball Fight!

The first snow man of the year.

A Little Crafty Project

Three picture frames.
Cut burlap for the back ground.

Secure and place inside picture frame. I didn't put the back on the frame so it would hang flat on the wall.

Glue piece in center of frame.

Hang.

Practice Makes Perfect

I was folding laundry and Adon came up to me and had written a few letters. I told him to write his name and this is how it came out. No help from Mom. Way to go buddy! I'm so proud. He is too!

Nothing As Cute

I decided that there is nothing as cute as my little Collin in footed pj's. He is getting so big!

Whats for Dinner?

For dinner I tried this new recipe from a "Kraft" cook book. Take 8 chicken breasts, thawed. Put two in a gallon freezer back and pound until 1/4" thick. Do that to all 8 pieces of chicken. In a bowl mix a box of stuffing, 1 can italian diced tomatoes, 1 T. dried basil, and 1/2 cup shredded motzerella chees (i always put more cheese in than it calls for since we roll in it). Mix together until stuffing is moist. Lay out each piece of chicken and put a bunch of the stuffing mixture on it, then roll it up. Place seam side down in a 13x9" baking dish. ( I lined the dish with tinfoil for easy clean up) Then take Red Pepper Italian dressing and pour some over the stuffed chicken. You can probably use what ever dressing or marinade you have lying around but this is what the recipe goes for. Bake in oven for 40 minutes at 350 degreese. Sprinkle a little more cheese on top when you pull it out of the oven. Serve with veggies, a salad, and garlic bread. You just made Bruschetta 'n Cheese stuffed chicken breasts. Yummy! Enjoy

A Cosy Fire and a Good Book

When its cold outside sometimes the best thing is to snuggle next to the fire place with a good book.....or sit on dad. This is Adon's "Grinch" face.
I love my boys!

Let it snow!

Northern Utah had a blizzard hit the day before Thanksgiving. Trouble for the holiday travelers. There is a bag of potatoes at the bottom of our stairs from our garden. I went to go get some for dinner and this is what I found. This is also only 45 minutes after it hit. The drifts in our back yard were up to Adons hips. We couldn't get our cars out of the drive way until 9 am the next day. Needless to say I didn't make it to work that night. P.s. Spanish Fork got an inch.

Legos!

Aaron has set of Legos for some Star Wars space ship. Here are a few designs the boys came up with; with a little help from Mom and Dad.
Collin is proud of his space ship.

The original design when you use all the pieces.

Magic Trick?

Sorry that I let a whole month pass with out updating my blog. We were getting out our winter clothes from storage and Adon was playing on one of the boxes. He wanted to "show me a magic trick" and to take pictures.
"Ta-DA!" That was his magic trick. I guess you will use anything for entertainmet when you are stuck indoors.
