Grandpa's Stiches

With all the ice and snow around some one is bound to fall. Sadly it was Grandpa Egbert. He slipped on some ice at work and bumped his head. He said he blacked out and the doctor said he has a concussion. Here is a picture of the six stiches in the back of his head. Luckily he wasn't hurt worse. To every one who is enjoying the white outdoors, please be very careful. Get well soon Papa Egbert.

Bubbles and Ribbon

Adon loves to lay on the ground and look up at the bubbles.
One will pop in his face and make him laugh.

Collin copies everything Adon does and loves bubbles too.

A long ribbon on a stick entertains for hours.

Sometimes little boys just get way tuckered out.
I put Collin in his bed for a nap. When I went to check on him this is how I found him. So cute, precious, and innocent.

What to do with 6-8 inches of snow?

Last Tuesday it snowed pretty good in Amalga. We got between 6-8 inches of wonderful snow. It was perfect for snowmen and snow balls. Here is what the Wilson Family created. A classic snow man with a carrot nose, button mouth, toy rock eyes, can for a hat, and bag clips for a bow tie. This was all after we shoveled our drive way and had a snow ball fight/snow ball baseball/and mini white wash.
Adon really wanted to take a picture with Mom's camera. He is getting to be quite the photographer.

We love playing in the snow with Daddy!

Playing In The Dark

Who is the mystery kid with the cool glowing rings?
Its my little Collin!

Who's the guy with the neon orange stick under his nose?

Its my Adon. It gets dark so early during the winter that sometimes I run out of things for the boys to do. So a couple of weeks ago we went to the dollar store and got a load of things to help us with some activities. I love the new book I got for Christmas by Steve and Ruth Bennett. A few balloons, glow in the dark sticks, dollar flash lights, clear cellophane, rubber bands and you have a week's worth of activities that the boys love.

Collin In the Snow

Collin is so cute in the snow. He will stay out until he is frozen and then longer as long as the sun is up.
He is big into eating snow. I have even caught him with my snow boots picking off the compacted snow on the bottom. Yes, but then he would cry when I took them away.

Long shadows in the snow.

Collin looks like he is making angels in the snow but really he is just taking a break from walking in it.

Mommy and Collin. He is frozen but sad only because its time to go inside. Truly a sad time.

Walking in the Snow

These snow day pictures are a couple of weeks old but hey.
Adon wanted tow alk across the field to go see the cows. The snow was too deep for the boys to walk in so we walk along the snow-mobile tracks saying "choooo chooo" They love trains. We each took turns being the engin and the caboose. The engin got to choose which way the train went.

Adon loves to dig in the snow but this day the snow was so hard that his little shovel did mightly little work.

Happy to be outside!

Beautiful Junk Binoculars

Beautiful junk is anything that could be thrown away but can be made beautiful by creating something out of it. Like these two empty toilet paper rolls (actually we made two binoculars, so 4 rolls). I keep all the toilet paper rolls we come across because there is so much you can do with them. Two rolls, and two elastics and voila; binoculars! (More to come on how to make these very binoculars even more spectacular!) Let the kids decorate them with a few stickers and markers and they think I am awesome! Which I am!
I see you!

There has been so much snow the past couple of days and its so cold outside that I have had to come up with more creative ways to teach my kids and keep them entertained. "Reading books and watching movies just don't cut it Mom!" They really are a joy to be with.

I Spy Bottle

On Wednesday mornings I take the boys to Story Time while Aaron studdies. They have a half dozen books that they read on a certain topic. Then they sing a few songs then they have a crafty activity followed by a snack/treat. This week the subject of Story Time was Eyes. We had books about colors and one of my favorite Each Peach Pear Plum. The activity was this ingenious I Spy bottle. If you look into stores for an I Spy bag they are usually expensive. I've been looking for a project just like this that wouldn't spill its contents.
Instructions: Take a 12-16 ounce clear water bottle, remove the paper and wash the glue off. Keep the lid. Add little do-dads, whatever you like. Adon's contains a heart shaped button, an orange bead, a red star, a giggly eye, a carrot, a birthday candle, an orange rubber band, a snap, a button, a bead with the letter O, a penny, ect. You can add what ever you want; a fun noodle, a bean, anything thin that can fit in the mouth of the bottle but a little bigger than a grain of rice. Anything too big makes it too easy so small is good. Fill the bottle a little more than 3/4 of the way full. Then hot glue the lid on. Adon and I played with these for 20 minutes. I would say "I Spy...." and he would find it. Then he would say "I Spy...." and I would find it. It does make a bit of noise when it is shaken and I think that's what Collin loves the most. It is still quite enough to take to church. Yahoo! Aces to whoever came up with this one!

Super Y!

Adon loves to be a SUPERHERO! His favorite is Super Y! It is a character on www.pbskids.org who has the super power to read to help save the day.
Adon has this little green blanket that he received as a baby shower gift from his Great Grandma Collett. He adores this blanket and sleeps with it every night.

To become a super hero all he needs is a way cool blanket tied around his neck and WHOOOOSH.... off he goes.

Setting the Table

Adon loves to be Mr. Independant. We had dinner up in Preston with Great Grandma and Grandpa Egbert. It was a very foggy drive. But the boys sure had fun being there.
Adon wanted to help so I let him put the silverware on. He was very good at getting it on the correct side of the plate as well as right side up. Way to go buddy!

So Grown Up

I took these pictures of Adon while he was taking turns with Daddy to play Star Wars.
He just looked so grown up.

I love you little guy!

Tim-Tam-Slams

A Tim Tam Slam is something that Aaron brought back from Australia. Recently we found that we could get Tim Tams locally instead of having them shipped to us. First you get a box of Tim Tam cookies. Yum by themselves but you have to try this. Then, you get a cup of your favorite hot chocolate. You bite two corners off of he cookie (kiddie corner to each other) to make a straw.
By holding the cookie with your lips on one bitten corner; you sip the hot chocolate up through the cookie.

This action dissolves the inside of the cookie rapidly so as soon as you feel the cookie crumbling in your mouth; flip your head back and try to get the whole cookie in your mouth before it gets every where.

Then enjoy your mouth full of warm, gooey, chocolate. And wash it down with your favorite cup of hot chocolate.
Note: Thanks to Aaron who demonstrates this so well and Kelsey and Jared who let us put them through the Wilson ritual. We love you guys.

Daddy's Hats

While doing a little cleaning and rearranging (due to cold weather and boredom), I got out some of Aaron's collection of hats. The boys love to pretend and dress up. Here is Adon in one of the hats that Aaron gave me. Adon says he is a pirate in this picture. Go figure.
I'm not sure what Collin is trying to be in this hat but he sure loved it. This is Aaron's classic wear-no-matter-what-hat.

Here is my little Kenny Chesney decked out in camo and toting a buccaneer one shot pistol.

My Little Artists

Somtimes it seems like I can't turn my back on my boys for a second. Thank goodness all the markers in our house are washable. Its the pens that scare me. Here is Colin. What the picture doesn't show is that he also colored the bottom of his feet and hands as well as his face.
Adon was supposed to be coloring a picture while I went to the bathroom. Nope he found other means to express his talent.

This happened the same time that Collin was coloring on the tile. It just happened to be the same marker as well. I know what you are all thinking. Where was their mother. Well, I was so shocked at their art work, I can't remember what I was doing. :P

Bubble Bath Beards

Bubble bath beards were something I did as a kid in the tub. My boys love having bubbles in the bath when they bathe. I showed them some cool things you could do with bubbles and had to take their pictures to show them. They thought it was pretty cool.

High Heels And Scrambled Eggs Please

Kids love to dress up, especially in their parents' clothes. My boys, both, love to clomp on the kitchen tile wearing my Sunday shoes. While making breakfast, the boys were doing just that. But we don't have toys up to the table while we eat. I caught Collin with one shoe dangling on while he was waiting for his scrambled eggs to cook.

Duck Pond

This little rubber duck has been sitting in this postition for the past couple of days now. Only recently did I realize that the duck is IN the pond. Where it is supposed to be, of course. Very cleaver for my little Adon. He isnsists that the duck has to face this particular direction.

Christmas PJ's

Grandpa Egbert got the grandkids all fun pajamas for christmas. The kids all look so cute in them.
Even though this isn't the best picutre of Alexis, she was at least holding still so I could get a picture of her in her Christmas Pj's.

Ethan wasn't feeling too good for pictures but that didn't stop him from looking like a stud in his sweet bear pajamas! Thanks Grandpa!

Here are the kids posing their new duds. Collin's pj's have a big moose on the front of it. We were definately spoiled, big time, this year for Christmas. Thank you to all.
